Michael Shane (aka MSC)
O-si-yo (Cherokee for hello). Michael Shane is a Native American. He enjoys writing short stories, reading science fiction, and sometimes the occasional romance. His main enjoyment, however, comes from drawing. He caught the “artist infection” at a young age. He started out just doodling profiles of people who stood out to him and some of his schoolmates. He would draw them in the back of his notebook and later when he had time, he would play around with the drawing. At the time he used an old fat graphite pencil, but the end result did not turn out to what he had in his imagination and looked more like some kind of alien caricature out of Star Wars. As Bob Ross would say, this ended up being a “happy accident”, and was what started his love for drawing fantasy. He would play around with the drawings and come up with all kinds of fantasy caricatures. But as he got older, his portraits got better, and today he has his drawings on book covers and inside of books. As a prison artist, he has come a long way with his portraits and fantasy art and desires to share that love with others.
Many inmates do not have the ability to earn legitimate finances while in prison, and the ones who can do not make near enough to provide for themselves or their families. We believe that giving inmates a chance to earn their own financial well-being helps to build their confidence working in the free market, opposed to trying to make a living on the streets. We hope that their family friendly creations will be a joy for you to display, as well a blessing for them to support themselves and their loved ones.
